WELCOME TO SWAMINARAYAN SPIRITUALITY
Swaminarayan ( April 1781 – June 1830) was an enlightened spiritual master who taught an extremely pure form of spirituality that can open the door into an enlightened state. The life and teachings of Swaminarayan are for the benefit of the whole world, irrespective of religious affiliation, creed, language, culture, etc.

Jasmine is a popular flower associated with love. Its showy white blooms and heavenly fragrance were connected with devotional practices by Swaminaryan. These flowers have a relaxing sent that is very beneficial for meditation on God. Swaminarayan emphasized love for God where there is a divine romance! The world's great religious (theistic) traditions have all emphasized divine love for God.
Each soul who is released from ignorance is like a Jasmine Flower who becomes fragrant with God's grace and radiates this grace in all his/her activities.

WHAT IS SWAMINARAYAN SPIRITUALITY?
NATURE OF THE SOUL
Swaminarayan taught that each person is actually an divine soul (atma) that has been trapped in beginingless ignorance (maya). Swaminarayan was a Vedantic master whose mission was to remove the soul from the clutches of maya.
GOING BEYOND MAYA (IGNORANCE)
Ignorance is a veil that prevents realization of the soul and God. Swaminarayan's mission was to destroy this ignorance (maya) and stop the continual transmigration (reincarnation) of the soul.
PSYCHO-SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
Each human being can become a buddha (awakened one). Swaminarayan's teachings and life show how this inner awakening can occur through the principles laid out in the Vachanamrut (the main spiritual text of Swaminarayan).
ENERGY TRANSMUTATION
The human brain can awaken to it's full potential when the four principles of Ekantika Dharma are fully present within oneself. This awakening is one's energy moving out of inner blockages into a state of fullness, so that devotion to God can occur without any hindrance.
GLORY OF ENLIGHTENED BEINGS
Swaminaryan taught that the most straightforward path to realize God is to become attached to God-Realized saints who have 64 saintly qualities. (See pages 7 and 8 for a list of the 64 qualities that was described by Swaminaryan to his mother.)
A PATH TO REALIZE GOD
A direct path has been shown by Swaminarayan to reach the abode of God. The abode of God is imperishable (Akshara) and Swaminarayan taught that God exists within that abode (Akshar) along with souls who have been released from ignorance. These souls are called "muktas."

Swaminarayan believed that being in the natural environment reminds one of one's own beauty that is seen as the beauty of nature. He stated that the beauty of nature is a reminder of our own intrinsic beauty that resides within us, as the soul (atma). The soul is described by Swaminarayan, in accordance with major Hindu scriptures, as a composite of: Sat (Truth), Chit (Consciousness), and Ananda (Unbounded Bliss). In the form of a great renunciate sage, Swaminarayan traveled in nature for 7 years, crossing the length and breath of India. He observed carefully the nature of human bondage, the psycho-spiritual traditions present at that time, and eventually settled in the state of Gujarat where he established a direct and unobstructed path to enter in to the the kingdom of God known as Akshar-Dham. The word Akshar refers to the imperishable reality and the word "Dham" refers to abode or place of residence. God is that Supreme Being, according to Swaminarayan, that resides within the Akshar-Dham, and is beyond the imperishable abode. The beginning of one's spiritual journey must be in nature, because we are all part and part of nature. To be in conflict with nature prevents the inner door of enlightenment from being opened.

OVERVIEW OF BOOK
The book "SWAMINARAYAN SPIRITUALITY" is a synthetical writing about the teachings of Shree Swaminarayan. This book is written for those who are highly familiar with the Swaminarayan Sampradaya and especially for those who are on the spiritual path shown by Swaminarayan. A series of introductory books on the Hindu tradition will be written in 2019 and beyond.
The book, "SWAMINARAYAN SPIRITUALITY" is written based on Sachin Karnik's study of the teachings of Swaminarayan and over 500 related saints, teachers, etc. The book does not have any chapters in that it is a free flowing exposition of Vedanta of Swaminarayan and many related ideas about spiritual practices, the glory of the form (murti) of God, actual opening of the inner door into Akshardham, and many such highly spiritual and introspectively mystical aspects related to the actual entrance into the divine abode of God (Akshardham).

Dr. Sachin Karnik is originally from India and came to the United States at the age of 8. He speaks 5 languages and has 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist and researcher. He has a Ph.D. in Social Work. THE INDIVIDUALIZED EGO IS THE MAJOR BLOCK THAT PREVENTS THE DESTRUCTION OF THE CAUSAL BODY
The individualized ego is the major block that prevents direct realization of God. The ego is extremely subtle, cunning, and wants to survive at all costs.
